Christopher Ratcliff of Econsultancy posted an article on the five cool things you can do with WordPress based upon a presentation by Patrick Hathaway of HitReach at BrightonSEO 2014, a search engine optimization conference. He describes each tip thoroughly with impressive detailed examples. The tips are not just “cool,” they’re very helpful when using WordPress.
An example “cool tip” with WordPress included:
IFTTT (which is pronounced ‘ift’ as in ‘gift’ by the way) stands for ‘if this then that’. It basically allows WordPress users the ability to connect together various online applications.
If an event happens (this) in one application, this will trigger an action (that) within another one.
For instance, if someone comments on your post you can thank them automatically with an email. If every time you post on Instagram it can then be uploaded automatically as a blog post on WordPress.
This can also be done with any social channel. There are an endless array of ‘recipes’ to make your life easier, perhaps the most important is the ability to automatically share blog posts on social media.f
The 5 tips Hathaway offered included:
- Streamlined Workflows
- Slick Quiz
- Parallax themes
- Advanced Custom Fields
